Collaborations
Global Apprenticeship Network (GAN) was established in 2013 to develop opportunities for work-based learning which is one of the most effective ways of preventing shortage of workforce and competence and reduce youth unemployment in this day and age when work life and the competencies needed in the labour market are in constant flux.
With its headquarters in Geneva, the founding of GAN was spearheaded by the International Organization of Employers (IOE), Business and Industry Advisory Committee (BIAC) at OECD, and the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Establishment and Goals of GAN Turkey
GAN initiated the creation of national networks to enable more efficient advocacy at national level in accordance with different economic, cultural, and corporate conditions in each country. Within that framework, GAN Turkey was founded by our Confederation on February 25, 2015 and thus became the very first national network to have been established in the world.
The opening and signing ceremony of the network was actualized as part of the “Development of Quality Apprenticeship” co-organized by the G20 Presidency and OECD in Antalya on February 25, 2015.
Today, GAN Turkey has a membership 40 companies.
“Project for Increasing Vocational and Technical Education and Training Capacity and Employability with Focus on Jobs of the Future” was initiated through the collaborative effort of our Confederation and the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI). The project aims to increase employability through the improvement of work-based learning (including apprenticeship) and vocational training in line with the needs of the current labour market and with focus on the jobs of the future, to improve the conditions within the labour market, and to create decent employment opportunities. Raising awareness among the member associations along with their member companies of the context of future jobs and reinforcement of employment are additional objectives of the Project.
The first Apprenticeship Program Cooperation Protocol with İŞKUR was signed between TİSK on behalf of GAN Turkey and İŞKUR on May 13, 2015, to ensure prioritized eligibility for the incentives given to apprenticeship programs implemented by İŞKUR and to promote the proliferation of apprenticeship programs in Turkey.
In 2019, 7293 people benefited from the apprenticeship and employment incentives implemented within the framework of this protocol which is renewed on a regular basis since the date of its signing. Out of all the beneficiaries, 5645 individuals were employed by the companies within the ecosystem of TİSK following the completion of the program, which brings the employment rate among all beneficiaries to 77%.
