Background

The manufacturing sector, traditionally considered as male-dominated, has been undergoing radical shifts through digitalization, automation, and sustainable innovation. Yet, while transformation advances, women–men disparity persists, with women underrepresented in industrial roles, especially in STEM-related and decision-making positions.

In response, the “Developing Women Empowerment Models in the Manufacturing Industry” project, implemented by the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TİSK) and UNDP Türkiye with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology (MoIT), and funded by the European Union, is building an ecosystem that fosters inclusive industrial development by centring women in the green and digital transitions.

This international conference marks a milestone in the "Developing Women Empowerment Models in the Manufacturing Industry" project. Strategically designed to elevate the project’s core achievements, the conference will provide policy dialogue and public visibility. By convening national and international stakeholders, the conference will create a dynamic platform for exchanging cross-sectoral insights and fostering strategic partnerships aimed at scaling and sustaining transformative impact within the manufacturing sector.

Objective of International Conference

The conference will showcase women’s empowerment models in the manufacturing sector, co-created with diverse stakeholders. By convening industry, government, academia, civil society organisations, and international organizations, it will foster collective ownership, long-term collaboration, and scaling of inclusive industrial transformation.

Through real-life stories, field research, and evidence-based dialogue, the event will highlight project outcomes and generate actionable policy recommendations with systemic impact. Drawing on best practices from Türkiye and abroad, it will position Türkiye as a model for inclusive, sustainable, and digital transformation while forging cross-border alliances.

Serving as a launchpad for the post-project phase, the conference will embed models into institutional and policy frameworks, ensuring long-term adoption and impact.
