TÝSK is a member of the following international organisations: ILO, IOE,
BUSINESSEUROPE, BIAC, BUSINESSMED, UBCCE and TURKEY-EU JCC
Representation at International Level
1. International Labour Organization (ILO)
Founded in 1919, the International Labour Organization (ILO) is established for
the promotion of adequate norms for working conditions and thus help to secure a
universal and continuous industrial peace. Today, ILO has 174 members, including
Turkey. The most salient feature of this International Organization is the
principle of tripartite representation.
The ILO adopts conventions and recommendations in respect of basic human rights,
employment and training policies, working conditions, social security and other
matters.
All International Labour Conferences as well as Tripartite Industrial and
Technical Committee meetings are closely followed by TISK.
2. International Organization of Employers (IOE)
The International Organization of Employers (IOE), of which TISK is a member,
was founded in 1920, and has presently 126 member national employer
organizations. Dedicated to develop the private enterprise, IOE is the sole
entity that supports the social interests of employers, and represents them at
international level.

The Confederation of European Business(BUSINESSEUROPE)
Founded in 1958 in Brussels, The Confederation of European Business (BUSINESSEUROPE) is established to develop economic and social
policies to safeguard the common interests of establishments represented by
employer organizations of member European countries, to set up solidarity among
member employer organizations in the European Union and help them to work in
coordination.
TISK's membership to BUSINESSEUROPE, an organization which embodies employer
confederations of several European and EU countries, took effect as of 1 January
1988. With membership to BUSINESSEUROPE, our Confederation has assumed the task of
representing Turkey before the European Commission as well as other European
institutions .
4. Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD (BIAC)
TISK's membership to BIAC, a specialized organ of the Organization for Economic
Cooperation and Development (OECD), took effect as of 1 January 1989.
Encompassing employer organizations of such industrialized nations as the USA,
Canada and Japan as well as all European members of BUSINESSEUROPE, BIAC aims at
representing the business and industry within the OECD and at finding solutions
to the problems of its members in respect of their common economic and social
interests. To this end, various organs of BIAC hold international meetings,
seminars and symposiums on economic and industrial issues every year, and thus
support industrialists and businessmen of member countries.
5. Union of Mediterranean Confederation of Enterprises (BUSINESSMED)
"Union of Mediterranean Confederation of Enterprises (BUSINESSMED
) was founded at the
5. Euro-Mediterranean Enterprises Summit, which was held in Istanbul on 1-2
March 2002, as a culmination of the process which was set off in 1995 with the
adoption of the EU proposal to strengthen the Mediterranean policy by the
European Council.
The decision of TÝSK's membership to
BUSINESSMED, which was founded by employer
organisations that represent Turkey, Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan, Israel,
Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia, was taken in TÝSK's 22nd
General Assembly.
BUSINESSMED
which was founded within the framework of UNIMED, a project conducted by
BUSINESSEUROPE, to which TÝSK has been affiliated to since 1988, and financially
supported by European Commission, aim, as its basic objective, at facilitating
the creation of "Mediterranean Free Trade Region" which is scheduled to be
realised by 2010, through coordination and cooperation among private sector
agents in the region, hence at promoting growth and trade as well as economic
and social development.
